Robert A. Norwood

Robert A. Norwood is a Professor of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona, where he performs research on high speed electro-optic modulators, optical sensors and sensor networks, integrated magneto-optic devices, 3-D display technology, optical nanocomposites, photovoltaic materials and devices, and ultrafast optical switching among other areas.  He has more than 65 refereed journal publications and 28 issued US Patents.  He is both an Optical Society of America fellow and an SPIE fellow, as well as a member of APS and IEEE.  He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Photonics Technology Letters.  He worked for 10 years in Fortune 50 R&D organizations and 5 years in a venture capital backed startup company prior to his present position.  He holds a Ph. D. in physics from the University of Pennsylvania, and the B.S. in physics and mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
